Halabja Monument Part 1

Halabja city is located in Northern Iraq. There are two different languages that are spoken within the Kurdish people living there. The languages are Sorani and Hewrami. Surrounding the city are many villages where some of these villiages where affected in the chemical bombings of Halabja in 1988. On the 16th March 1988 at 11:30 am the Baaths regime starting bombing the city with chemical gas and this continued until 4pm in the afternoon. During this time 5,000 Kurds were martyred and 10,000 Kurds were injured and taken to Iran for treatment.

This video is of the Halabja Monument, where it shows the history hall before 1988 as well as a hall where statues are made of one of the streets during the chemical attacks of Halabja on 16th March 1988. Also you will hear a part of Omed's story in what happened to him and how he survived. As chemical weapons where used, it affected the humans as well as the animals.

Below are two photos that show how 'Margatsat Hall'. This hall is made to show one of the streets in Halabja city on the 16th March 1988. A 3D effect has been used so that the important features of the hall are highlighted. In this first picture the vehicle is the main focus because it has a 3D effect where their are statues hanging out as well as the martyred people on the floor around the vehicle.

This second picture is again of the 'Margasat Hall' where it shows the child in the corner in a 3D shape where the face is in painted on the wall but the rest of his body is outside a statue.

This third picture where Omed is pointing towards is the container of the chemical bombs as today in Halabja city many of these are found that haven't gone off yet. Also the effect of the container in this picture shows that with such a small bomb all those around in the streets as well as homes were martyred.

On the day of the tragedy not only where the humans affected but animals were affected as well. This side of the hall shows that statues that have been made of the animals that were on that land and it's surroundings which all died from the many poisonous gases that were used.
